VIOLIN/VIOLA LESSONS
VIOLIN & VIOLA LESSONS
Ages 5 & Up
Violin & Viola Lessons at New Haven Academy of Performing Arts are designed for students from 5 years old to adults. Young beginners (5 to 6) are evaluated for readiness. Our string teachers will be able to teach in variety of teaching methods, from Suzuki to other traditional string methods that will be customized to your individual musical goals. Although they are normally associated with classical and folk music, our teachers can teach every genre from pop to jazz and even some fiddle! Our students spend time each week working on technical skills to improve their sound quality and intonation, but also have their favorite songs incorporated into the lessons so they finish with their favorite piece. Our violin teachers, through their care and expertise, will certainly nurture any student’s love of the violin.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT will i or my child learn in a Violin/Viola lesson?
We will provide our first time violin students with an instrument and all the necessary materials during the first class. Since student violins are quite affordable and portable, we highly recommend to our students to bring their own violin on their second class should they choose to enroll in the Academy after the Introductory Class.
Our violin/viola students begin by learning the parts of the instrument and how to properly hold their instrument. It often takes several classes to achieve the necessary comfort level of holding the instrument, developing strength of the fingers and hands to producing musical sound.
We give numerous opportunities for our violin/viola students to perform throughout the year
Many of our events have become a yearly beloved tradition, such as Halloween Cabaret, The NHAOPA Christmas Spectacular, Valentines Cabaret and the end of school year Showcase. Performing in these and other shows is optional, where students make a personal decision with their teachers and parents as to which shows they wish and are ready to participate in. Our events are very organized, and they are a lot of fun.
