NHAOPA Rock Band classes are the perfect way to take your private lessons to the next level! These classes are built to help students learn the skills necessary for playing and performing with other musicians. Using a hands on team approach is the NHAOPA way! We help to match students of similar ages, style tastes, and experience to make class exciting as well as educational. Rock Band consists of between 3 and 8 band members playing drums, bass, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, keyboard, and vocals.

Little Rockers
* Ages 4-7
Learning an instrument used to be for big kids, but not anymore! We understand that children in the younger age group may not be ready for private lessons just yet. Our Intro to music classes are the perfect way to get children ages 4-7 playing instruments!
From day one, your child will have the opportunity to play in a real rock band. We provide modified instruments that are perfect for their little hands, along with a kid-friendly curriculum that makes learning music fun and accessible. This class allows them time to play and discover which instrument the love the most before moving up to private lessons and Rad Rockers!
Our Little Rockers Program uses colors to teach your child how to play their favorite instrument. We find it much easier for a child to learn to play musical notes by using colors. It works so well, your child will be playing on their first day!

Get ready to rock with Rad Rockers, one of the most exciting programs at New Haven Academy of Performing Arts! Perfect for kids and beginners, we blend our passion for performance-based music education with a super fun and easy-to-follow curriculum designed for those just starting out.
Each week, students jump into a lively group rehearsal where they jam out to classic rock tunes—specifically simplified for beginners. It’s the perfect way for young rockstars to get comfortable with their instruments while grooving with a band in a positive, high-energy atmosphere.
Plus, they’ll also enjoy a weekly one-on-one music lesson with a fantastic instructor who helps them fine-tune their performance skills while building solid musical foundations. And the best part? At the end of each semester, they’ll get to showcase their new skills in our epic seasonal show! Rock on!

Rebel Rockers
*Ages 14-18
Get ready to unleash your inner rockstar with Rebel Rockers at New Haven Academy of Performing Arts—the ultimate teen rock band experience! Every week, teens dive into a group rehearsal where they jam out to some of rock music's most legendary tracks, playing alongside their peers in a real band setting.
Each student gets songs and parts tailored just for them, matching their age, experience, and knack for picking up new skills.
But that’s not all! They’ll also have weekly one-on-one music lessons to master their parts, refining the skills and concepts introduced by these iconic songs.
The ultimate goal? To get them stage-ready for epic live performances. These rising stars get to hit the stage at our very own Cabaret on Main Theater to rock out in front of a live audience up to 6 times a year. Let the show begin!
